Buckle your seat belts (AKA: No snacks!)

I fly a lot for work and for fun. I’ve been flying since I was about three. Aside from being locked in a metal tube with 100 people you don’t know for a few hours and the occasional crazy who thinks they are more important than anyone else on said flying tube (pilots included), my flights are relatively uneventful. Until they aren’t.

Lately, there have been a few high profile aircraft issues. While rare, crashes do happen. There are plenty of preventative steps in place to avert issues and lots of safety protocols to follow when things go wrong.

Just like pest problems.

Please pay attention to your flight attendants for this important safety briefing.

There is a good reason people pay to have professional pest control. We work better and faster than almost any DIY project and store bought bug bombs. Yet people still refuse to listen to the professionals when they are told they should do something like clean up food messes or seal up doors. Maybe they’ve heard it a hundred times and it doesn’t register. Maybe they think, “it will never happen to me”. And maybe nothing bad has happened yet. But it can and likely will.

There are life vests under your seats in case of a water landing.

We have lots of tools when it comes to controlling pests. Sometimes, it may come to an emergency situation where we don’t have many options left and we are down to the last lifeline. We never want to get to that stage yet sometimes it happens. It may be a longstanding issue that has slowly grown over time, like cockroaches in a kitchen, and sometimes it’s completely unexpected, like finding termites in a newly built home. We are prepared in case of an emergency, but plan to never get to that point.

Flight attendants are here for your safety.

There are budget airlines, and there are the “typical” airlines. People have a range of options to choose from, but all of them are intended to get you from point A to point B. Safely. Some accounts want the bare minimum and may be prepared to pay for the fancy extras. Other accounts may need the first class option and want the extra attention. Professional pest controllers are there to help keep your structure safe, your foods pest-free, and your health protected. You may not see much of them as they do their job, but they are there, keeping accounts secure and safe from pests.

Passengers in the emergency exit rows should read and understand the safety instructions.

There’s things you can do to help the pest control pro who’s taking care of your account. We need and want the help, not just in an emergency but with the whole process. One person may be doing the “regular” pest control for the account. Other people need to know what’s going on and how they can help. There’s a structure and a chain so everyone knows their job. Same with pest control.

Remain seated with your seat belt fastened.

Just like a flight, our goal as pest control professionals is to keep the account free from pests. Our job is the safety of people, their food, their structures, and their health. If you feel your program hasn’t been updated in a while and your SOPs are dated (or non-existent), we help with that. Contact us.

And pay attention to your flight attendants next time.
